Edetate sodium
A white powder that is one of four types of neutralizations of Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA). EDTA is a molecule that complexes metal ions in aqueous environments. Tetrasodium EDTA is most commonly used in cosmetics but is recommended for alkaline products such as handcrafted soaps.
Uses: Water softener, a bonding agent that prevents microbial growth, a sequestering agent, and in cosmetics and soaps as a preservative.
